The Library of CORNgress
As youth explore the libraries in your communities, help them understand
all the different resources available. Libraries have books, magazines,
tapes, story-telling hours and computers. Our Library of Corngress not
only offers lots of great information, but lots of fun as well.
In walking through the Library of Corngress, children will come across
several different games which help them with various areas of development.
The first game, the encyclopedias, helps youth learn letter recognition
and the alphabet. They learn to recognize patterns in the alphabet, along with
individual letters. The next game, the atlas, teaches shape recognition as well
as state identification. Children will also increase their familiarity with the geography
of the United States. Another game is the magazine rack in which youth will use deductive
skills and learn pattern recognition by putting magazines back in the proper location.
